Grant Highlights: Supporting Animals, Nature and Species Conservation

Author Natalie Pinon, Interim CEO

Philanthropy plays an important role in protecting the natural world and supporting animal welfare. NPT UK donor-advised fund (DAF) donors recommend grants to a wide range of charitable organisations working across these areas. From rescuing vulnerable animals to advancing biodiversity and supporting innovative climate solutions, these grants reflect the diverse priorities of donors committed to creating positive, lasting impact.

Giving vulnerable animals a second chance

Animal rescue organisations continue to provide vital support for neglected, abandoned, and mistreated animals. A £10,000 grant supported an animal rescue organisation dedicated to protecting neglected and vulnerable animals. The funding will help provide essential veterinary treatment, rehabilitation, and ongoing care, giving rescued animals the opportunity to recover before being placed in safe, permanent homes. Alongside its rescue work, the organisation engages with local communities to promote responsible animal welfare and help prevent neglect before it occurs.

Supporting pets belonging to people experiencing homelessness

A £3,000 grant helped fund free veterinary care for pets whose owners are experiencing homelessness. By delivering veterinary services directly within communities, the organisation ensures that animals receive essential healthcare while helping owners care for companions that often provide invaluable emotional support. The grant contributes towards improving animal welfare while strengthening the wellbeing of both pets and their owners.

Restoring biodiversity and nature through conservation

A £5,000 grant supported a conservation initiative focused on restoring Britain’s natural environment through biodiversity recovery and species conservation. Funding will contribute to research and public engagement exploring nature restoration and the role native species can play in building healthier ecosystems. By supporting evidence-led conservation work, the project aims to encourage informed discussion around long-term environmental recovery.
