Grant Highlights: Supporting International Aid, Emergency Relief & Poverty Alleviation

Author Natalie Pinon, Executive Director, Development

NPT UK donors continue to play a vital role in addressing urgent humanitarian needs and fostering long-term resilience in communities affected by conflict, displacement, and poverty. From rapid disaster response to education access and child protection, these DAF grants have helped to deliver life-saving support and transformative change across the globe.

Urgent Aid for Refugees and Displaced Communities

A £100,000 grant supported the delivery of emergency assistance to refugees and displaced populations around the world. The charity supports grassroots initiatives that deliver emergency shelter, food, medical care, legal assistance and education to people fleeing conflict and persecution. By supporting rapid-response programmes and long-term recovery efforts, the charity reaches some of the world’s most vulnerable populations, ensuring flexible and targeted humanitarian support where it is most needed.

Investing in Girls’ Education to Break the Cycle of Poverty

A $100,000 grant contributed to a pan-African initiative focused on ending poverty through girls’ education and women’s leadership. Operating in some of the most economically challenged regions of Ghana, Malawi, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe, the programme offers financial and material support, including paying for school fees, uniforms and learning materials, to keep girls in school and help them succeed. It also builds community resilience by addressing systemic challenges such as health crises and climate shocks, creating opportunities for lasting educational and economic opportunity.

Emergency Healthcare and Humanitarian Relief in Conflict Zones

Two grants of £1,000 each supported an organisation delivering humanitarian aid in conflict-affected regions of the Middle East. Funding was used to provide food, shelter, clothing, and essential medical supplies to displaced families. It also helped sustain hospitals and rehabilitation services, ensuring access to healthcare in fragile and under-resourced areas. This support enables rapid emergency response while reinforcing long-term recovery and rebuilding efforts.
