Grant Highlights: Supporting Education at Every Level

Your clients can use their donor-advised fund (DAF) to support education at all levels, locally or globally. A DAF offers a simple, efficient way to give back to their alma mater, fund scholarships, and empower institutions to provide financial assistance to students in need. At NPT UK, our donors support a diverse range of educational initiatives, from early childhood programmes to university-level learning, both in schools and in the wider community. Here are some recent examples of how DAF grants have supported education.
Helping children overcome barriers to learning
A grant of £40,000 is helping an education charity that works with teachers, schools, and other organisations to help disadvantaged children in the North of England. The charity’s initiatives include hosting fun, family-friendly maths workshops at a pre-school serving children from low-income families; providing specialist academic workshops, career and university guidance, and transition support for high-achieving students moving to secondary school. They also provide funding for teachers with innovative ideas to improve outcomes for socio-economically disadvantaged children. These efforts are helping school leaders and educators remove obstacles that prevent students from reaching their full academic potential.
Providing bursaries for low-income students
A grant of over £7,000 is providing a bursary for a Sixth Form student at a leading academic school in London that has a high level of achievement, sending many students to top universities. Established in the 15th century, the school teaches its students the values of being kind to themselves and others, being aware of the world, and ready for the future. Through its bursary programme, the school aims to foster a diverse and inclusive community by offering support to students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Supporting literacy through book donations
It is widely understood that a culture of literacy helps children learn to love reading, enhancing their academic ability at all levels. A £1,000 grant supported a campaign to provide books for children in need this past Christmas. The organisation provides students in low-income elementary schools the opportunity to choose and keep their own books, at no cost to their families. The successful initiative promotes a love of reading and helps strengthen literacy skills, providing children with a foundational element of lifelong academic success.
