Grant Highlights: Making a Global Impact

Author JOHN CANADY, CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

At NPT UK our donors recommend thousands of grants every year. We are always proud to highlight these wonderful acts of philanthropy as a way of demonstrating how our clients’ charitable aspirations are being fulfilled and hopefully inspiring others.

Here are three examples of how grants from our DAF donors are making an impact across the globe:

Funding the fight against children’s cancer

Around 1,800 children in the UK are reported to be diagnosed with cancer every year—that’s around five every day. While a cancer diagnosis for a child is especially devastating, there are many forms of support for cancer patients and their families. A grant of $45,000 was recently made to provide a lifeline for children and their families experiencing the trauma and heartache created by childhood cancer diagnosis.

Supporting earthquake victims

A series of fatal earthquakes have had devastating impact across the Turkey and Syria. It is estimated that over 47,000 people have lost their lives, with thousands still missing or homeless in the earthquake-stricken countries as a result of this natural disaster. Recently a grant of $20,000 was made to aid the relief effort for earthquake survivors in Turkey and Syria.

Preserving history for future generations

Exploring the past not only offers a chance to learn about our heritage, but enables us to create better pathways for the society we live in. We were thrilled to facilitate a grant of $50,000 to help preserve objects and bring stories to life at a prominent museum. The grant will help give today’s generation—especially school children—the opportunity to learn about people’s experiences in major moments of world history.
